Specialized Bicycle Components, headquartered in Morgan Hills, California, was founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard. They were on the forefront of mountain bike design in the late 70's and early 80's. In 1988, Specialized developed the first carbon fiber mountain bike frame. Today Specialized also offers cycling equipment, everything from gloves to shoes to sunglasses. That's right, sunglasses. Specialized makes glasses that are specific for mountain biking or road riding. They offer adaptive lenses that are anti-fogging and are specifically designed for upright (mountain) or bent over (road) riding. Specialized’s lenses are made from NXT, which is more durable than polycarbonate and also resistant to salt, sweat and sunscreens.
