Ed Hardy
The Ed Hardy brand was created by Christian Audigier in 2004. Christian Audigier is really half the story behind the brand. Christian was born in the city of Avignon, France and has much success throughout his career. He started with MacKeen Jeans and worked for several brands including Diesel, Fiorucci, Bisou Bisou, NafNaf, American Outfitters and Von Dutch. Von Dutch is a great success story for Christian as he pushed the brand into the fold of popular culture. In 2004 Christian left Von Dutch and launched Ed Hardy. Along with Ed Hardy Christian Audigier has When I Move You Move, C-Bar-A, Crystal Rock, Smet, and Paco Chicano.
The other half of the story is California native Don Ed Hardy. Don Ed Hardy, known as the godfather of modern tattoo, is a painter, printmaker and, of course, tattoo artist. If you have never seen his work, it is something to behold. It is not for everyone, but definitely something you should experience. Don pulls together “American, Japanese, Cholo, tattoo, surf and hotrod iconography.” So says his website.
Ed Hardy offers male, female and unisex models, although most of their sunglasses can be considered unisex. They retail for $300 to $450.
