Marlene wore his designs in Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright. Yves Saint Laurent was hired in 1955 as Christian Dior’s assistant, he was nineteen.
Christian Dior died of a heart attached in 1957 in Montecatini, Italy. Upon his death, Yves Saint Laurent was named to provide the artistic direction for the company. Despite only designing under his name for ten years, the Christian Dior name still exists today. This is a testament to the influence of Dior’s designs and the change he made in the industry.
