Acetate

Acetate when used to describe sunglass frame material is really cellulose acetate (CA) plastic. This is made from approximately 55% cellulose acetate (an organic compound comprised of an acetate ester and cotton or wood pulp fibers), 35% plasticizer and 10% colorants. Cellulose acetate plastic is durable over a wide range of temperatures, can be easily colored, and is resistant to UV radiation.
